About Patisserie Salzburg

An upscale European-style cafe located in the heart of downtown Rye and at Harbor Point in Stamford, Connecticut, Patisserie Salzburg offers fresh, authentic products in a warm, inviting environment. Manfred Hirz, the co-owner and chef of Patisserie Salzburg is himself a native of Salzburg, Austria and received formal training in baking and pastry in Salzburg from the age of fifteen.

Immigrating to the United States in 1980, Manfred made his start working in various kitchens and restaurants in New York City, including the world-famous restaurant, Vienna 79, which received four stars in the New York Times.

Manfred originally opened his business in Armonk in 1986 where he met future partner, Par Shakiban, and they eventually opened a second location in Rye in 1995, where the business has resided ever since.

A well-established local fixture, Patisserie Salzburg maintains a high standard of delivering fresh-baked delicious goods daily, made on site with the best possible ingredients.  Patisserie Salzburg offers a wide assortment of European-style pastries and cookies, incorporating a variety of French, German, and Austrian specialties, from kugelhopf to apple strudel.

Patisserie Salzburg also offers a more modern take on many classic American favorites.  Manfred’s dream of bringing a traditional European-style café to Westchester has become a reality, and we welcome you to experience a delightful taste of Europe with us.

For the commuter on their way to the train, we offer fresh brewed Illy Coffee, hot chocolate made from imported Belgian chocolate, or a frothy cappuccino with their choice of steaming hot muffins or pastries fresh from the oven. Our lunch options vary from daily soups and quiches, to innovative salads and baguette sandwiches. Patisserie Salzburg’s breads are made with flour imported from Germany, from traditional French baguettes to our rich, dense European Vollkornbrot.

Dessert lovers rave about our signature Chocolate Ganache cake, and customers may choose from a wide array of elegant cakes and tarts. Difficult to find outside of New York City, our flakey French macaroons are a delicate treat, especially when paired with one of our decadent chocolate desserts.
